Batch 4 Production Update V

Here's another update about the progress of batch 4's production. For the previous update, click here.

We’ve been making good progress fixing the surprises we found in the main shipment of printer kits, and are getting really close to shipping them out.

As we mentioned in our last update, the biggest surprise was the tampering with our packages. Specifically, all the packaging foam was removed and thrown away, so someone along the line could save on shipping costs due to the reduced volume. Who needs foam anyway! Well we do, because the kits will likely break during shipping without it.

To make things worse it turns out packaging foam is crazy expensive in New York. Foam that cost us $30 in China cost just under $1000 in the US. This isn't quite as crazy as it sounds - most of it was shipping. We should be able to recover most of this cost from the shipping company, but that’s not something you need to worry about.

We now have the replacement foam, and are working on repacking the kits. So long story short kit printers will be going out soon.

In other news the main batch of assembled printers has now arrived. All that needs to happen now is to add the cartridges, that were produced separately, to the boxes. After this happens they will be ready to ship out!

Stay tuned - we’ll let you know as soon as we start shipping more printers.
